스캐너의 작동은 광학 삼각 측량의 원리를 기반으로 작동.
라인 레이저는 렌즈에 의해 일렬로 형성되어 대상물에 투사. 대상물에서 산란 된 레이저는 렌즈로 수집되어 2 차원 CMOS 이미지 센서로 전송. 이렇게 형성된 대상 윤곽의 이미지는 신호 처리기에 의해 분석되며, 신호 처리기는 대상의 레이저 라인을 따라 세트의 각 포인트 (Z- 좌표)에 대한 대상까지의 거리 (Z- 좌표)를 계산. 스캐너는 Z 축의 경우 기본 거리 (범위 시작), SMR, Z 좌표의 경우 측정 범위 (MR), Z (Xsmr)의 시작 부분에서 X 좌표의 측정 범위 및 X 축의 측정 범위를 계산하여 산출
